March Gin Club: Slingsby the spirit of Harrogate

Writer's picture: Andy JonesAndy Jones

In 1571 William Slingsby discovered the unique properties of the natural spring water from the Tewit Well in Harrogate. This award winning gin has been crafted using all local botanicals including Primrose, sweet cicely, nettle, milk thistle, rosehip and interestingly, Taylors of Harrogate green and jasmine tea.  These unique botanicals are complemented with water drawn from the world famous Harrogate aquifer, pure single grain spirit and a handful of the finest ingredients from around the world.

Fill your G&J  balloon glass to make sure your glass is chilled to perfection then add a generous measure of Slingsby Harrogate Gin. This gin gives and initial hit of citrus followed by the hearty juniper twang to follow so I found that if you add a squirt of fresh lime juice then mix with Primrose hill Grapefruit tonic water it tastes truly wonderful. Finally garnish with a grapefruit wedge, sit back and enjoy!
